I noticed that in this spreadsheet some of the attributes do not match exactly to the diagram in the textbook, this is because the directions were slightly different. I am learning to make sure that I follow the directions precisely which ensures efficiency in class.

Questions
a)  How do you add a border / shading to a spreadsheet?
To add border or shading to a spreadsheet you first highlight the cells that you want to edit, and select format cells. Under the Border and Fill columns they can be added.

b)  What is an automatic format and how is it added to a spreadsheet?  What is an advantage of automatic formats?  What is a disadvantage of an automatic format?
An automatic format is a formatting that can be applied to a cell or its contents. A formatted cell has different attributes than a non formatted cell.

1)  Try:  Exercise 15 page 221, Exercise 17 page 225  and Exercise 18 page 226-227.    DO NOT PRINT ANY SPREADSHEETS even though the book asks you to print.

These exercises demonstrate the use of formatting techniques in spreadsheets.  Adding and deleting columns / rows is also demonstrated.   Answer the following questions in your notebook:

a)  How do you add a border / shading to a spreadsheet?

b)  What is an automatic format and how is it added to a spreadsheet?  What is an advantage of automatic formats?  What is a disadvantage of an automatic format?
